Mike - the hills look good, and the livestock is a nice touch. The finished area should be a good railfan spot, no?
I had the good fortune to be invited to go play on Flash's layout yesterday. Oops, forgot we don't play, we operate! What an awesome layout! It's big enough for a club layout, with lots of interesting little (and not so little) details scattered about. When I got back I found I had taken over 100 shots of his great layout. I'll lead off with a few overall shots for perspective, then I'll come back with more detailed shots. (Perspective shots are of course the least flattering of all, because they include everything, including the incomplete and imperfect sections.) Coming down the stairs into the train room, this is the view that greets you. (A) Looking to the right: (B) Same viewpoint, looking to the left: (C) Then looking to where those pictures were taken from: And of course the host himself (garbed for work! ) [ February 20, 2005, 10:29 AM: Message edited by: William Cowie ]
I've been doing a little kitbashing lately. First is the new pier at the eastern edge of my harbor, with a new building being erected on the pier. Then there's a sanding facility for the diesel yard. I needed to get it down on the layout to finish it, such as trimming up the hoses and adding a supply. It was a fun little project for a long-neglected part of my engine facilities. Edited: reduced the size. [ February 20, 2005, 01:34 PM: Message edited by: Pete Nolan ]
Russell: Speaking of Marathon, here is a wreck out on hyway 90. I suspect the emergency vehicle is not the right vintage though. Bryant
William, I never envisaged Flash's layout being so large, he always plays down the size of the layout, I'm really impressed. Wouldnt everybody love to have a yard the size of his. Looking forward to seeing more pics, thanks for sharing.
Bryant, Whenever I see pics of your layout it always makes me feel how unrealistic my layout looks lol. Another excellent scene captured by your photography skills.
Quick photo of the AABA lashup pulling the PFE reefer block past East Yard and on to Houston. Cotton Belt wide load.
Great job folks, always an inspiration to get something done... first is some work around the Lunch Stand, a great place for going to Beans (Bar Mills)... ;then up in the timber ...The shay backs in the next bunch of logs...houseing for the crew still needs to be finished. Paul: My honest response is "Aw shucks, it ain't nothing." My modeling consists of smearing some colored plaster around then adding some cast rocks, bushes out of a bottle and some blended turf while it is still wet. When I see the intricate detail people put into structures and kitbashed projects, I realise just how far I have to go. These folks are the REAL modelers. As far as the photography, it is the magic of the digital camera. I just plop it down on the layout and push the button. (incidentally, I learned what 'depth of field' is only about 6 mos ago). Anyhow, thanks for the complement. It does me proud as they say in Texas! Bryant

Lehigh & New England S2 #611 went out to the interchange and came back with a few cars. First behind the locomotive is an Ashley Drew & Northern boxcar. Look familiar Tad? Next is the most recent addition to the roster. It just came in from the decal shop. Another billboard car.
And another of a different color. Next is one of the first attempts from the RK&M decal shops. Then a outside braced wood boxcar And lastly the caboose
