I only had room on my module for a compressed version of the new gin building shown in the center foreground. After W.W.II when mechanical picking replaced hand picked cotton, a new process had to be added to the gin. The mechanical cotton pickers were not as selective as humans so there was a lot more debris like hulls, sticks, leaves and even rocks to be delt with. The Imperial Cotton Gin added this new building in the late 1940 to remove all the trash before the fibers were ginned from the seeds. The debris was blown into the cyclone bins on the right where it could be then loaded into trucks for disposal. Note the linemen wearing cowboy hats. OSAH was not around to require hard hats.:teeth:
EMD GP35 Looks good Russell. I have never tried to duplicate something so extensive that closely. I have made individual buildings, but making such a large area takes a lot of planning, for sure. Nice work, as I have said about these modules many times. :giggle7yc: Starting quickly, here is an old EMD GP35 lease unit. Minimal masking required, obviously. BTW, yes, that is a D&H SD45 in the background.
Bob, Rotten way to establish plans and priorities, but best of fortunes for you and the future of the JJJ&E!
Great shots guys. I decided to try to add more greenery to my shooting diorama. Well, this is what I got accomplished.
Nice photos and work, everyone! Carl, I missed the ruins the first time I looked at the photo, and that's great because that's how they really are - - Hard to see unless you are looking for them! Cool! I finished five MTC reefers to keep my food distributor busy. Orange is a weird but fun color to weather. They're supposed to be weathered to a few years old.
Wow guys, these look great! Jon Grant, I'm really impressed with your layout. looks very realistic. excellent work!
Nice photos! Now, you guys upload these pictures from your digital? Whenever I do that, it's too big....
Mr. Grant ...I just want to say that I think your railroad looks like it would be a blast to operate. Your work inspires me and I do appreciate your great pictures......
Coveray- When you download the picture on your computer you can reduce the size. On the upload to Railimages, make sure the size is less than 2 meg. If so, Railimages will further resize it for posting. If it is over 2 meg, it will not upload to RI.
What company makes that switcher? I think I have the same one, that I bought for 10 bucks. It's got two motors, but I don't think it would be able to carry that many cars.
I use www.photobucket.com It is free, and very very easy to use. also provides you with 3 types of links below each photo for easy copy/pasting into forums, etc. also, if you do not resize them smaller, it will do it automatically when you upload the photos! it does take a longer to upload unresized (larger photos), but saves you time. Good Luck!
It's a Broadway Ltd SW7 with sound. If you got one for $10 - WOW!! I suspect you got the Athearn SW7 instead - still a nice model and looks good if you swap the Athearn cab for a Cannon kit version. Jon
