[IMG] Weekend Modeling Photo Challenge *SPECIAL EDITION - PASSENGER* Ends Monday, May 3.

**This weekend we are continuing an experimental format for our challenge! Please read all rules as they ARE different from previous weeks! ALSO, VERY IMPORTANT: STEAMDONKEY74 is FILLING IN FOR MARK WATSON for this CHALLENGE**
If you notice a typo, error, or confusing statement, please notify user SteamDonkey74 immediately for correction and clarification.

For this special edition of the Weekend Modeling Photo Challenge each member is asked to create up to 4 images that together tell a story of passenger rail. The story can be as simple or complex as necessary and you may include a single sentence or a few paragraphs to explain the story, but each story will be judged by the images and the way they link together.

Please post all content in a SINGLE post.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions (I'm sure there will be a few), and most importantly, HAVE FUN! :D :D

Modeling Photo Challenge Topic: "A Story of Railroading"
    1. Challenges are open to everyone, have fun!!

    2. The entry deadline is Midnight (UTC -11), Monday, May 3. Late entries will be accepted up until the official "Time's up!" post within the thread.

    3. For photos to be eligible they must be taken between Friday, April 30 and Monday, May 3.
Please use the challenge as a motive to take new photographs!

    4. Any posts with images taken before the commencement of the challenge will not be included in the poll and may be moved to the cutting room floor thread.
    - Ensure dates and times on your camera are correct. -

    5. **Up to 4 images per participant so please choose the images carefully.

    6. Though realism is popular among voters, it is not required. Any image or snap shot related to the topic is acceptable!

    7. Though not required, commenting on other peoples pictures is encouraged.

    8. Please use the Cutting Room Floor thread for related but ineligible images.

    9. A clever and distinctive title for your image helps identify it among voters. (And makes it easier for me when posting the poll ;) )

    10. *NEW* Photo editing and enhancing is perfectly acceptable and even encouraged, however the subject and focal point must remain that of a physical model.

On May 4, all entries will be put up for a public vote, in which all members of TrainBoard may vote for their favorite entry(s), regardless of whether you submitted an entry or not. Voting will last 4 days. You may vote for multiple entries. To do this, you must select all entries for which you wish to vote at once, and then click the submit button.

I heard this tail many years ago. I have since heard that it probably did not really happen, but that never stood in the way of a good legend.

Back in 1968 the KCS donated the Lounge Observation car named Good Cheer to the Gulf Coast Chapter of the NRHS. On weekends, a group of members would take the car from Houston to Lafayette, Louisiana to bet on the ponies at Evangeline Downs. They would hitch the private varnish onto the end of the SP Sunset Limited for the ride both ways. On the trip back to Houston one time, allegedly the couplers parted along with the brake line sending the train into emergency. The Good Cheer being a very light car came to a stop much faster than the rest of the train.
Before the rest of the train came to a stop, it rounded a corner and was out of sight behind some trees. Many of the passengers decided to de-train too look around while the bulk of the train backed up to retrieve them. About then a local policeman showed up and began to question the slightly inebriated horse race crowd.
"You in a heap of trouble for stealing that train car!"
Just in time, the Sunset Limited backs into view and couples on the Good Cheer. The revelers line up to re board.
All aboard and the cop is left standing there, not understanding what just happened.

There's still time to enter! If you're hurting for ideas, consider that passenger rail isn't just about the passengers but about the cars, the scenery, the travel through the landscape.

I look forward to seeing your entry!

While rail fanning the Oregon Cascades in July 1998 with a friend, we ran across Amtrak train #11 the Coast Starlight stalled at Crale, Oregon.
Since we were on the other side of Lookout point reservoir at the time, I figured it was a good time to try out my new 75-300 lens.

We waited a while, then I decided to hike farther up the ridge to see if I could get a better shot of the train. Rob stayed at our original location.

45 minutes later Rob caught a fresh looking SD70M backing down the main. It was then coupled to the stricken train.

While the crew coupled the locomotive and let the air come up, I hiked a bit farther down the ridge and snapped this pic.

Shortly after the train started to move and was gone. Hopefully there will be no more delays for this train and passengers on it's way to California.

    D&H Private Excursion

The last few days, TBX#3401 has been in the Denver Area and for some odd reason the Yard Master wanted that car quickly out of here today. Luck would have it, a D&H Private Excursion train was heading out of Denver UNION Station at 3PM and they agreed to haul it until there next stop. I was up in the tower when it pulled out and was able to get a few shots of the passenger train as it headed east...
