Good afternoon Colorado. I'm connecting to you here from the Denver International Airport, which is why I was not able to post this earlier. But now that I'm stuck in a 3 hour layover, lets get this show on the road shall we?

*Please read all rules as they may have changed from previous weeks*
If you notice a typo, error, or confusing statement, please notify Mr. Train or Mystere immediately for correction and clarification.

    Modeling Photo Challenge Topic: "Bridges"

    1. All challenges close at 10pm Pacific Standard Time on May 18th, and will be noted with a "Time's up!" post within the thread.
    2. Please use the challenge as a motive to take a new photograph rather than using a photograph that you have taken in the past.
    3. Challenges are open to everyone, have fun!!
    4. Though not required, commenting on other peoples pictures is encouraged.
    5. Only one image per participant so please choose the image carefully.
    6. Any posts with images taken before the commencement of the challenge will not be included in the poll.
    7. For photos to be eligible they must be taken between Friday May 15th and Monday May 18th.
    8. Ensure dates and times on your camera are correct.
    9. On May 18th, all entries will be put up for a public vote, in which all members of Trainboard may vote for their favorite entry, regardless of whether you submitted an entry or not.

These past two weeks, we have changed up the winner selection a little bit, which I believe was well received. Under this new system, we base the number of winners on the number of entries. The more entries, the more winners. Voting will be unlimited multiple choice.

We look forward to seeing many contributors, remember this is to encourage all photographers to take a shot of the subject rather than post a photo taken in the past.

Ok, lets see those bridges! :)

I have to ask. Work with me here...does a turntable bridge qualify?

In my option if it moves (no counting swing or lift) it's not a bridge. But this is not my contest so post a couple photos then remove the one that doen't fit the topic after Mystere rules on the question.

    Daredevil railfan

This photo was snapped by a brave (crazy?) railfan who climbed a very tall tree above his already very high campsite. While up there, he captured this shot of a Bangoor & Aroostook freight crossing a double-tracked truss BRIDGE, which I believe qualifies it for this contest. I knew this campsite would prove useful! :pcute:

I had the same problem on another site before I was able to finish my bridge, so hang in there and when its done you'll be ready for the next one. (next year:mtongue:).

It doesn't say it has to be complete as long as it looks like a bridge.
A pile of parts on the work bench would not look like a bridge.

Ha! So it does not have to be finished? I'll submit my baby trestle then. Let me know if it's not allowed. I'll pull it out no problem! :tb-tongue:

It's a bit more a proof of concept than the trestle my layout will feature. It's likely to actually end up on there tho. I quite like the outlook of it so far. Made entirely of basswood and white glue. What you see is just ~2/3 the length. The rest, which is not yet done, is slightly curved to the left.

Trusses are kitbashed from Atlas units. Track is Micro Engineering code 55 bridge track. Piers and abutments are poplar painted with latex paint and watercolors.

As long as it's not completely off topic I will put it in the poll. But just remember your audience, they are the final judge.

Sorry Spidge, only 1 photo per member, as stated in rule #5. Take your time deciding though, you have another two days. :)

I thought I would use this to motivate you to finish it. [IMG] [IMG]

Hey may I replace my shot? I got a better one right here. It's still a baby trestle but at least now it look like more like what it's supposed to look like.

Okay, here is a new image, hot out of the camera.

A Pennsy T1 Duplex pulling an excursion is leaving Seneca Falls. Its route is via the interchange bridge across the Seneca River back to the Pennsy lines.

Great shot COverton! The weathering is very credible.

Ok, this shot is gonna be my final submission. The baby trestle has been summarily installed to test fit the legs and clearances. The span is 25 cm (10 inches). You can see the mail line's cork passing under. There is also a yard throat you can't see. The work is stalled until I get more basswood. The loco is Kato SD40-2 CN #6253 straight out of it's box.

Gentlemen, I give you "Baby Trestle":

Hey, you two (vous deux!), very nice work! The trestle is a fine one, and it looks like it would withstand a double header of Alleghenies from the C&O. Very robust.

Socal, I like those lookin'-down-the-bridge shots, and have taken one or two myself. Your scene is a very nice one.

Modified Kato bridge to give it arched girders.
