Good morning from cloudy, cold and windy Northeast Ohio!

I managed to get some cars done this week even going back to work.

First up is a Kadee PS 2003CF Covered Hopper kit, painted with Scalecoat II MofW Gray paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. The Louie had many covered hoppers in cement service out of the Iowa area.

Second is an Athearn NACC Ribbed side RBL kit. North American built several thousand ribbed side and smooth side RBL's in the 1960's they were all different as North American used parts from Pullman Standard, Stanray and various other suppliers. I built this car with a PS roof and Wabcopac Truck Mounted brakes. It was leased by the National Fruit Co. to move its apple products around the country.

Another view of my Kato GP35 along with a couple of Atlas RS-32's on the Strongsville Club Layout.

    Thanks for looking!

Many kudos to all. Such outstanding work. @r_i_straw, is it a real church on your layout? Did you rent a shrink ray from a mad scientist? :sneaky: These pics help set the bar for me. (y)

    That would be me. :D

My warehouse has plenty of mad scientist devices and instrumentation ready for the next takeover of the world, or dare I say, the universe?:sneaky:

Special discounts for all Trainboard members.:)

Megalomania training courses available on request. Fees may apply.

For a less ambitious weekend offering.......... a well used, and freshly 'soiled,' stock car.

From the colors, it looks like your car was used for various types of livestock.

Mine, however, seems to be just one species but with a more indiscriminate aim:

I keep getting the urge to put on some rubber gloves when I want to handle this one (a train show find, bought as seen).

The NP handled quite a mix of livestock, cattle, (looks like an alfalfa rich bit o hay was consumed here, hence the green,) sheep and pigs being most common. I would assume the GN did the same.

I have been working on an SP Black Widow project for way too long, so I tested it, it ran, the lights worked but when I put the shell on no power for anything. So I'll have to take apart & attempt to find a wire I pulled loose. At any rate here are 2 images :

This Sd40 was not an easy dcc ready install but I just used a small DZ126t.

    Be well,
    Carl

    JimJ,

You are right, very frustrating but I figured it out. Here is a picture:

The problem turned out to be exactly what I thought. Here is an image to illustrate:

You guys know this stuff very well and can probably see where my problem was. The area above the front flywheel, where the original light board slipped in and made contact with the frame 1/2's. I cut the light board and slipped that small piece in and soldered the red/black wires on. I started to drill/tap some 090 screws but thought this would be easier. If this "fix" does not work well I will completely strip it down again so I can work on the 2 frames.

Model railroading IS FUN ! but can be challenging.

For fans of the Pacific Great Eastern, the railroad as you've never seen it before:

A little photo shop magic allows better colour matching of the units:
