Nice work Russ! Perhaps a tribute to the recently announced demise of the blue box line?

    Wow--great start, everyone.
Russell: Those are really handsome kitbashes.
    Grampys: Beautiful as always.
Flash: Nice weathering. I'm gonna miss those BB kits.

I'm kind of known as the "Yellowstone Freak" on the 'other' forum, so thought I'd show a few of them. The Rio Grande borrowed Yellowstones from the Missabe during WWII, but I just had 'my' Rio Grande go to Baldwin for their own copies, LOL! They're the 'never was' L-140 3900 series.

Here's #3910 hustling an eastbound freight through Wagon Wheel Gap

And my 'fleet' in Deer Creek Yard. One has just coupled up to an eastbound reefer train, the other two are awaiting assignment.

They're all older Akane models that I've re-motored and 'bashed' a little with some castings from Cal-Scale and PSC. They're very nice runners.

Tom, I love those steamer shots on your layout. Never get tired of 'em! :tb-biggrin::thumbs_up:
My contribution this week shows a Pennsy J1 blasting out of Tunnel #2 with 2000 trailing tons in coal-filled hoppers.

    Question For Jeffrey Wimberly

I've been noticing your back drops which appear ro be exactly what I'm looking for use on my layout. Straight flat land with a heavy forest. If you don't mind, would you please advise me of your source.

    Thanks.

They're made by Busch and are available through Walther's. At the moment, the one that's shown in my photos is sold out. Here's a list of places Walther's says may have it:

This is a picture of two modules that I am converting from HO to N scale. I spent today modifiying the HO supports and abuttments to prepare for installing the bridge. Once that was done, I placed the bridge and laid down most of the track. I'm quite happy with the progress so far. Check out my blog for more on my layout and some small projects that I have undertaken to improve some of the modules that I purchased earlier this year.

I was looking at some of the Athearn BB locos on my today. Two that stood out right away are a GP38-2 and a SDP40F.

First the GP38-2. It's had visors, grabs and plastic railings added but the body is still Blue Box as is the frame, trucks, motor and drive. It grinds along with the best of them. It sports a Digitrax DZ125 decoder.

Now for the SDP40F. It still has the Blue Box body, frame and trucks. It has however been retrofitted with a new motor and an Athearn hex drive. It sports a Digitrax DZ125 decoder as does it's mate. The mate was a dummy SDP40F but i fitted it with a Proto 2000 E6 chassis. It also has a Digitrax DZ125 decoder.
