Nice steam action! One of these days I'd like to figure out what ever happened to my 0-8-0. I don't throw things away so it's got to be somewhere, but I haven't seen it in ages. Oh well, hopefully my drummer will come through with the Mikado or Pacific he said he'd give me. Meanwhile, a nice patch of sunlight today so here are some more photos. First comes more boxcab action photos:

And here's a shot of the left side of this diorama. Yes, I know the truck is cheesy. I'm still working on the pup trailer to put in that bay.

And finally, a quick shot of the 59-tonner at Herndon Depot:

Click here for a close-up shot of my son working the fireman's side (as he pointed out). Have a good weekend!

It's amazing how fast they grow from 1:160 to 1:1 scale!

[and is that a tsunami of toxic sludge tumbling from New Jersey about to topple your train? Oh, no, it's just turquoise-tinted trees... ;) ]

Seems like just yesterday he was Z-scale... Where does the time go!?

I see you've been to New Jersey! :tb-tongue:

Curse you, white balance! They actually look much better in person. But hey, these were my first ever home-made ground foam trees. My later batches of ground foam are much nicer colors, I promise! :) (there, adjusted the color balance, should look a little better)

Funny story though. I remember once as a little kid traveling on the NJ Turnpike when I saw some gravel in the median strip. It was a noticeably larger amount than I would have expected, basically for almost 50-75 yards leading up to a bridge pier. And it was all painted a roughly grass-green color. It felt like I was on a gigantic Lionel train set.

One final set from me this weekend.

A UP manifest crests the grade outside Barclay, with a UP U30C and the united SD40-2 Snoot.

A Santa Fe manifest has paused on the valley bridge, rarely do they stop here because of the difficulty of starting the train, but it happened today.

Another angle of the same train

(modeling note, I figured when I stopped for the picture that I wouldn't be able to get moving again without backing down the hill, but the two proto 2000 GP30's and the heavily weighted RTR GP35 just walked up the grade no sweat when I started again.)

Long enough? The train goes from the caboose in the lower left, up around the horseshoe, and around to the engines sitting behind the boxcar on the upper deck.

I do like your Santa Fe yellow bonnets. I have one here somewhere...

    Still in pretty nice paint.

    Kudo!

Absolute fabulous! My best effort was a code 70 curved #6 turnout.
