I just got back from Colorado where we celebrated my sons 40th birthday.

Before we left on our trip I managed to get a couple of cars done!

Athearn Composite Side Hopper Car Kit, painted with Scalecoat II Black Paint and lettered with Mark Vaughn decals. In 1944 the Wabash's Decatur, IL shops built several hundred war emergency composite hoppers and 75 were assigned to the Ann Arbor for hauling coal.

Sunshine Models Resin Kit of a PRR X37a 40' Double Door Boxcar, painted with Scalecoat II PRR Freight Car red paint and lettered with kit supplied decals. Car was used to haul auto parts from Philadelphia to a Ford Assembly plant.

Rapido PRR RS-11's with a coal drag pictured on the Strongsville OH Club layaout.

    Thanks for looking!

PXL_20210903_174739520.jpg I have always liked Accurate kits. But these new two at covered hoppers are FANTASTIC! I don't know if they got new molds, but they go together with a minimum of fuss!

That Pennsylvania 40' double door looks very unique, especially the roof on it. Built in the roads own homeshops, maybe?

Yes, the PRR only had one of the 1932 AAR Boxcars and none of the 1937 AAR Boxcars, and instead built its own group of X37, X37A and X37B boxcars in its own shops. The X37B was somewhat unique in it was an excess height boxcar of the time and most were used inn the auto parts service hauling various body panels and transmissions. They also had a 3 spring truck rather than a 2 spring truck for heavier loads.

A Conrail power move passes through the village of Sebring at the Sebring (Ohio) Model Railroad Club.[IMG]

Meanwhile, construction and track laying continue at the new (yet to be named) Ohio and Western Allegheny port facility. Several buildings, car floats, cranes, etc. have also been completed. All mainlines are open but several more switches and crossovers must be completed before the clubs annual open house in November. Full operation and scenery is likely to drag out for many more months.
