Kicking off this weeks weekend proto fun thread with a BNSF eastbound near Gattman MS back in 2013 since I didn't get to catch anything new this week. Been a while since I have had a chance to visit the BNSF main between Memphis and Birmingham but hopefully I will fix that this summer.
From Thursday, NS's NKP Heritage Unit 8100 on 12R (Columbia, SC => Enola, PA). I'd never seen the NKP, so was pleased to have finally caught up with it.
I'll make my contribution a bit more modest : Porter 12-ton gas-electric critter, mounted on a giant lazy-susan... One could probably hide this in the sand box on 8100 above... My photo, Exporail, July 2009.
Today at Wyomissing JCT, NS 24Z runs from Harrisburg to Morrisville in PA with stacks and a few racks, too.
A while back we had a few cabooses (cabeese?). This one came into mind today. A BC Hydro from forty some years ago:
After a winter storm dumped 7-10 inches of white stuff on Minot, I got out for some shots. Light power for the day's switch moves waits for its crew in Minot: Powdery snow doesn't always have to be shoveled out of switches. That's a backpack leaf blower, and the second crewman is the lookout. CP train 198 rumbles across Soo Tower's diamonds with the daily Vancouver-Chicago intermodal.
We had a grain train bring some of the white stuff from Mandan yesterday, and these pics are after it had been here in our 40F weather for a few hours!!
I have a fantasy for 2022: I'm going to take photos of an actual freight train. Shoving this commuter train: Last week the grade was to the left. Here is the correct 'tilt'. Right between the Signals Through the chill, (warm by ND standards), raw January rain and barren trees the inbound cab car on the Needham line.
Caught some different locos in Reno two days in a row now. Saw this one late afternoon yesterday being put up for the day.
