189 tons, according to a local rail. She's heavy!

Looking east from the 3rd Street crossing in Rosenberg. An empty coal train waits for permission to cross the the UP Sunset line and head north to Fort Worth.

It is really not quite so sever a grade. Telephoto zoom just makes it look that way. In this view the pilot of the lead locomotive is about over the frog and you can see the spur dropping down to the derail sign.

Brand spanking new crude oil tank cars. They are so shiny they reflect the sky and horizon off to the right.

What are all of these creosoted/treated timbers? They do not look like standard ties?

Great photos, with the nice steam as an apéritif...

Seems to be a MOW equipment storage track, with what seems to be hi-railers or some other light self-propelled equipment parked in the distance. They're most likely the heaviest that track ever sees or has seen in a long time... I wouldn't back an ET44AH onto that, for sure...

They park bad order locomotives on it all the time. This photo is from about 8 years ago showing the two geeps used for the local tied up on the spur.

Ummm. 189 tons is a mighty small train. If she's loaded and heavy, I'm thinking way more than three digits....

Seeing the differing colors, some have been laying there for a good period of time. Note the grass growth around and through them, which was cut a while ago as well.
