Posted this one before. Taken in Albany Or. in 2010.

One of my favorite shots. I have a slightly more cropped version of this framed on the wall of my office.

Here is one that I do not think I have posted before. It comes from the Gordon Motts collection.

One classy lady, I think this is shot in Lordsburg, New Mexico, probably late 1940's. A 4-10-2 that is double headed with ?.............

I think I can barely make out the 3rd cylinder. Looks like the 2 hogheads are talking it over.

It is big but looks like one set of cylinders. I would guess by the shape of the rectangular tender that it is either a Mountain or a GS-1.

A scene now gone, this was taken a few years back. Just a couple of weeks ago, BNSF cancelled the lease of Mission Mountain RR, for this portion of their operations. Columbia Falls, Montana:

So, what's gonna' happen to this trackage? Someone else going to run it, or will it be ripped up?

The portion which ran into downtown will be gone. The city money wasters want a trail, which they wildly believe will "revitalize" downtown. How nobody can figure out.... But I digress. The rest will remain in service. To replace the customer sites a new "rail park" was built just northeast of town, and everyone's arms well twisted to relocate there, so that trail can be built. CHS has a new facility. (The only remaining active grain elevator business in the west of this State and further.) A large building supply moved there as well. I believe a new customer is or has set up. Other active local customers on the line are Pacific Recycling and Plumhaeuser. Beyond that all other current shippers are in Columbia Falls.

BTW- This is a remnant of the original GN Haskell Pass main line, before it was re-routed via Whitefish in 1904. The depot still stands, which once housed dispatchers, superintendent, engineering, etc, etc. There was once a yard, roundhouse, etc. And this is why this region remained until BN named as the Kalispell Division.

A road trip today to Northern Plains Railroad found this old Russell plow on the end of the spur track on the former GN Mohall-Granville branch.

This totally looks like a cartoon, like it's alive! The seats in the upper windows look like eyes, and the plow is a big happy face ready to devour some snow, lol!
