The CSX and CITX were on a coal train on the NS WV Sec. from Charleston,WV to Columbus,Ohio. Before being used as helpers, these engines brought the Blue Circus train to Charleston,WV. They are on their way back to the circus train.

Was this circus train nearby enough that you could catch it?

My refs show it was sold off to Progress Rail two years after Yoho's photo. Previously it was GP9 CV 4924, and was rebuilt as a GP9R with 645 power assemblies, chopped nose and rebuilt cab, but retaining the 1750 hp rating.

It's really nice to see one of those old-soldier GP9s still in service.

    582 action

Three trains in one shot from Hill 582. Far track is the UP through Cajon Pass CA. The next track is BNSF track 1 then 2(nearest). This represents our day well as we were able to to take in 31 trains from 9 to about 5ish. We had two three train opportunities in one day. Stellar.

Sounds similar to the CRP done by the Milwaukee Road, which turned out their "GP20" units. Except they ended up with a higher horsepower rating.

I assume she's been renumbered since this? All of the GP60s I've seen recently have been regardless of paint.

Strange "Heritage" paintscheme. Looks like UP is not that fond of its purchased railroads...

I think the problem with those old GP60s is that they never broke down long enough for the paint shops to catch them to even patch them. The "Energizer Bunnies" of the SSW. ;) There are now only two of them left unpainted or unpatched, 9708 and 9642.

The last two photos I posted are of the only ones still original SSW. All the rest have either been repainted or patched.
