It's my birthday I'll make threads if I want to threads if I want to, Threads if I want to. Lots of Jawin in the Atlas Forum thread and no action. Plus only one night of pictures isn't really Trainboard's style. The rules are: 1: post a picture you took of the prototype. Don't care where, don't care when. Any picture you like as many as you like. Just like weekend photo fun, but with the real deal. And here we go. This is from the first time I ever went to Fullerton Station in SoCal. A classic ATSF SD40-2 and a Susie-Q SD45?!?
Why not...... Here's one I like of our local KCS Gulfport, MS Branch taken in October, '08. You'd never know from the photo, but the speed restriction is 10mph for the entire 67.5 mile length of the Branch, from Hattiesburg, MS to Gulfport. Makes for a l-o-n-g day.
I like freight cars. I usually take pictures for modeling. I found a good vantage point in San Antonio is the Hayes Street Bridge. The bridge has been converted to a pedestrian walkway and has a good "look-down" angle for trains to photograph the tops of cars. It goes right over the Sunset Route. Interesting "census" car? Mexico?
YoHo,is that an NYS&W SD-45,or an ICE?[Iowa,Chicago & Eastern..] Looks blue, not black, and no sill stripes. Also, there seems to be a name on the bottom of the cab,and the number is wrong, the Susie Q locos are 3600 series..Both run right past my front door, the ICE units showed up here a few months ago when they merged with CP,but so far,all SD40's..Yeah,CP runs right past my house too,LOL!!Life is good..
MBTA Geep 40X: 640 Pixels Square Photographed at the "Roslindale Village" Station. Since the lights are out it was on an outbound trip to Needham Heights, MA MBTA - MP36: Early spring 2012 at the "Roslindale Village" station, Roslindale, (Boston), MA. Lucky catch as the MBTA only has 2 of them.
You know what, I knew it wasn't Susie Q when I posted it, but I forgot. It is a Montana Rail Link Engine, but only Patched. I have another shot of it and the previous owner has been blanked out on the long hood. I THOUGHT it was NYS&W. The patch is much bluer than the engine.
Keith, I love the yard shot in the sunset. Couple weekends ago, the Wife and I took a Walk from the Crocker Art Museum (yes that Crocker) along the Sacramento River Waterfront passed the railroad museum and the old Locomotive works. The museum was putting their daylight E unit to bed.
The only ex-Amtrak SDP40F (sold to & refurbed by Santa Fe) on the point of a southbound PNWR freight on the ex-OE line.
Like the yard too. Was my entry in the Yard/Yard throat photo contest 2-3 years ago. Like the Palmer lake shot as well. This was the last train that I saw for the day. And since it had unmolested Rio Grande power on the point, it was well worth my attempt to get a shot or two! This one made it as a place mat and maybe mousepad from Toltec Images in Louisville, CO.
Thank you! Actually, No and No. Let digital camera do the work. I just aimed, and shot! Haven't used tripod, except for a 10PM night shot of Union Station in Denver.
