Doesn't qualify for "Before the Yellow Peril."

In fact, West Colton just doesn't seem right for this unit at all.

It's funny, living about a mile from the Original railroad in Chicago, C&NW's Main Mainline Chicago to Galena and railfanning in the 80s and 90s, I saw strings of SD40-2s, the occasional Geep and of course Metra galore as well as visitors on transfer runs to Proviso, but never did I see a C&NW GP40 until I was in Sunny Southern California.

One of those things I never knew I'd miss until it was gone.

Some widely known graffiti showed up in Carlisle, PA this week. Done by AWARE, car originally owned by EEC. Car now marked for BKTY, new owners just patched road numbers and kept the paint job. Wish I could have gotten closer, or my phone had a better zoom.

Trains and planes. I saw a train while out on my morning bike ride today. A "Brown Worm" crew had gone dead and a van came to exchange them. The old Santa Fe line runs on the other side of the Houston Southwest Airport from the road where I ride.

It's come to a point where we don't see many actual earthworms. They are so vandalized and colored up, they look like a rolling circus. :(

In the late 50s and early 60s, my dad worked as a civilian contractor for the USAF. He was stationed at Clark AFB on Luzon in the Philippines. We were out for a drive one Saturday during the sugar cane harvest and came upon this narrow gauge Tea Kettle crossing a road. The photo was shot through the windshield of our old Plymouth so there are some reflections off the dash hazing up the image.

With today's editing software, I am sure that can be cleaned up. Even so, likely a very rare view.

Dang, the cab and tender are both bigger than the boiler. You're being gracious calling it a "Teakettle". Most teakettles I remember are bigger than its boiler.
