Since we celebrated NS's 30th Anniversary, here are a few photos from April 1st of the first run of the NS grain train combined with IAIS's BICB train.

The red units are the new SD40-2's for Nebraska Central RR.

The depot is owned by the Iowa Interstate. It was where the former dispatching office was before it moved to Cedar Rapids.

From a couple of weeks ago, something I'd never seen before - mulch being unloaded from open-ended hoppers...

Tracy, are you using the "Insert Image" icon on the menu line just to the right of the globe with the red X? That icon executes a macro code that links and inserts an image into the post correctly. Otherwise the post has an image space holder, but no image to insert. Just a random thought.

Is the original picture site one which requires a log-in to access? Or an open public access page?

That's exactly what I was doing, the problem was the URL for the images. My photos are all out on Google Drive. Each photo has a URL, but, even when publicly shared, that URL isn't constant. It works for a while, but then expires. That's exactly what I was seeing here.

It was something like that. The photos are on Google Drive, shared to "Public", but apparently the URL pointing to the photo is not constant. Seems to make it quite worthless in my opinion.

Those aren't hoppers, at least I don't think they are. They look like Standard Chip Gons.

I had no idea chip gons opened in that way.

Yes. That is how chip gons can be dumped. Those look like the well used stuff BNSF parted with in the past few years, which Greenbriar (GBRX) acquired.

Tracy, consider opening a Railimages account. Besides being free to all TB members, it also is convenient for posting here.

I have a RI account, but it's a pain to resize every photo before posting there. With Google Drive or Dropbox, the photos go straight from my camera to the cloud, and from there I can do whatever I want with them. Except this time... :closedmouth:

How about Planes, Trains and Grain?

I shot this back in March this past year on the Bloomer line. Total surprise as I had never chased the train this far north. If your ever in Central Illinois, the Bloomer Line is a fun short line to fan.

It certainly would make it easier for shortlines to keep the business if they could just call in an airstrike against the trucks..... a lot more useful than a business car!

Everybody needs a good air-ground A-7 attack jet or maybe an Apache. Put it next to the enginehouse, the ultimate deterrent.

What is the A-7 doing there? I'm guessing DM is Davis-Monthan, the now home of most of them.

That Vietnam era Sluff is there for a Vietnam memorial. It certainly took me by surprise, but Illinois has a few stuffed birds used as such. I found it funny that who ever was tasked with the display, placed a pre 1947 US Army Air Corp insignia on the fuselage sides.
