After last weekends special edition of the Weekend Photo Challenge, its only fair to give the Prototype photographers a turn! Each member is tasked to create up to 4 images that together tell a story of railroading. The story can be as simple or complex as necessary and you may include a single sentence or a few paragraphs to explain the story, but each story will be judged by the images and the way they link together. Please post all content in a SINGLE post. Don't hesitate to ask any questions (I'm sure there will be a few), and most importantly, HAVE FUN! Though composition is popular among voters, it is not required. Any image or snap shot related to the topic is acceptable! 7. Though not required, commenting on other peoples pictures is encouraged. 8. Please use the Cutting Room Floor thread for related but ineligible images. 9. A cleaver and distinctive title for your image helps identify it among voters. I haven't been able to put anything together yet.....Working on the Honey Do list this weekend.:tb-sad:
Port of Tillamook Bay Graveyard Well, I got some pictures today. I wasn't planning on doing any more than just posting them in a thread, but since nobody has posted Anything yet...
The DB of yesteryear The story of railroading is one of change. Railroads all over the world must continue to evolve; improving service, serving new customers, trimming unprofitable lines, and modernizing their equipment. The Deutsche Bahn (DB), or German National Railway is no different. Witness the Vogelweh station platform from yesteryear, overgrown with trees, and brush, quietly standing sentinel over track that haven't seen a wheel in two decades: Another sign of the changing face of railroading is the retirement of older motive power, being replaced by more efficient diesel locomotives. This proud 2-10-0 was once the flagship of the fleet, but is now relegated to greeting visitors to the Kaiserslautern, Germany maintenance shops:
Great entries YoHo and Hemi! I think if we dont see at least a third entry today, I'm going to extend this one. Sound good to everyone?
I was taking down the NTRAK layout at the museum in Rosenberg today and kept hearing a radio outside the building. A BNSF MOW truck had pulled up and some guys were repairing the track at a switch. Finished and the first train comes by to test their work.
FYI, I'm going to keep this one open until midnight tonight. I know Russell came in an posted that third entry, however just in case my earlier statement confused anyone, I see less harm in just leaving this open rather than closing it down and finding someone upset. In general this one has been a pretty sloppy contest on my end, which I apologize for. Ever just have one of those weeks?
I've got more pictures in my railimages folder. When the contest is over I'll make a more general thread.
Mark, the weekend after next is Amtrak Train Day supposedly all over the USA. YoHo, Steamdonkey and I, among others will be at the Portland, OR, event, but there are things planned in all the major Amtrak cities. Might be an idea for a contest. :tb-biggrin:
Well, no new entries, but now I'm certain we didn't leave anyone behind. Ok, poll is posted and ready for votes!
