Marklin has announced their list of 2011 new items. This years releases are heavily weighed toward eras II - IV. There are two wonderful surprises for this year. For European fans, there are three all new freight cars! These cars represent all new tooling never seen before in the Märklin line. The first all new car is acid transport cars. Each car carries 12 smaller containers. There are two versions of these cars released, with and without brakeman's cab. The new all new piece of rolling stock is articulated boxcars. The final all new body style is a class OOtz 43 hopper. American has also released two new sets for the US market. It has been a number of years since Marklin has offered US products. The first release is an EMD F7 A-B-A set for the ATSF. It appears in the experimental yellow and silver scheme. The next new release is a set of 18 freight cars. It included PRR, UP and ATSF flatcars, SP, UP and ATSF boxcars, SP, UP and ATSF gondolas, PRR, UP, and ATSF four bay hoppers, PRR, UP and ATSF tank cars, and finally SP, UP and ATSF cabooses. Well, I must say that this is welcome news from Marklin. For them to do some Z items means that their reorganization plans may be working. Hopefully, they will come out with some different Z steamers. Glad to hear they are back in any case. Jim
Rob, It looks like the cars are all sold as one set, there are no individual numbers. is that correct, at a cost of $483.35 Jd
JD, This freight car set is an interesting one. Marklin has tried a new approach recently. They are releasing these 'large' sets with one product number. They call them displays. But, the dealer are allowed to break up the displays and sell the cars individually. Marklin has done this with European releases the past few years. I am wondering if the US freight cars is the same way and suspect it is. If so, each car will have a .XX number after the product number. Rob
Thanks Rob. I see a problem in that since a dealer has to buy the whole set, some items may sell first, and not others, or dealers unwilling to buy too many sets, on the chance they may be stuck with certain cars. Hopefully Walthers orders enough.
Ztrack, What Country are the Z trains and cars Mfg.? Is it possible to attach an English PDF of this? Chris
....but unfortunately again all fantasy models for the USA.... no compare at all to MTL and AZL in my opinion.
DANG!!! Goooooodbyeee Z-scale!! Look at all thoose nice Norwegian H0-trains! "Honey, where did i leave the shrinking pistol?"
