What is new on your layout/module(s)?

Since we have had a "what is on your workbench" thread going for so long, I figured it was time to start this one. Show us what you have been doing on your layout or module(s). This is the place to post your updates to your layout.

 

Finished the fence. Glued the containers down. Put some trucks and trailers in.


The Mi-Jack has a load and I'm putting in some people.

Great idea you have here....a new thread related only to new module work.

I think this will garner new interest, I know it gives me a kick in the pants.

Real concrete of course
Woodland Scenics paving tape and pre-mixed concrete patch. The tape is about 1/8" high weatherstripping. You peel off the one side and put it on both sides of your road. Then using a putty knife, I just filled the gap with the patch. When dry remove the tape. It is actually made for larger scale roads, but when I fill the shoulders with dirt and grass, the small cliff will be gone. I may paint some expansion joints in with a felt pen.

 

Actually Miller Engineering makes this. I've been told the Micron Art is more realistic but is in shorter sections. Besides I already had the ME fence to start with. Cut to fit and then rubbed in "rust" powder. The stainless is just too shiny and does not look like galvanized fence should look - especially after being exposed to the elements.

Busy finishing model for natioanal Z-meeting

I am busy building on my new module and hope to have it finished so I can run train in it on our national Z-meeting in this month.
The last days I also have been busy doing som demolotion work and have prepared my layoutroom to be the home for my new permanent layout. Hopefully I can start build this in a short time.

Got some of those Walther's backdrops and glued them to some stiff backing that Don F. got me (thanks Don!). Put one in the background today to try it out. I must say it really makes a difference. Since my yard is so deep, the containers stacked in the middle add more dimension to the picture with the background in there. The main use of the backdrops are for use in my videos. We shall see.

 

Looks good David I used the same back drops for my N scale layout but I cut out the sky and used a black construction paper to give it a 3D look lot's of work cutting out the sky and black paper but in the end it was worth it

Some more progress on my ZMOD-module

Tonight I have had some more progress on my ZMOD-module. In only a week, we have the ZMOD show in Drammen, and it is still al lot to do before I can run trains on this module.
It's only the first coloring of the rock surface that has been done, and a test with some trees I got from Loren Snyder. Some foliage also. But it is still a lot to do with the detailing of the surface.

Strange you should say that Robert, as just today I finally began work on my modules for the first time since the convention also.

So how come we're all so darned busy that we can't play a little more?

Wow Steve, thats some progress!

Ive been making some small changes to my layout. I covered the sides with black, and did a slightly cleaner wiring job underneeth. I moved my church. I paved my gravel roads and narrowed them some to be more to scale. The cemented in yard for my lumber mill was converted to a ballast fill. And last I finally got around to finishing my other tunnel entrance.

I still have alot of greenery to put back, and some other small things to finish. A work in progress I'll probably never finish.
