I'm sure I could be opening up a bees' nest here but I need to ask the question. What HO-scale track manufacturer do the "experts" use, The "experts" being the folks on Trainboard! [IMG] I will be using DCC so that probably will be a factor too.

I'm not a rivet counter or in this case a spike counter but I do like to have things look as close to 100% with out having to re-engineer something that is already 85% there.

I like the Central Valley Model works track but I would have to hand-lay my own turnouts and I might just not have enough patience for that.

I see Peco has some new stuff out that looks pretty darn good. Not sure if the cross-section of their rail is prototypical like CVMW's but may be I don't need to worry about that.

Have used Atlas but I'm not a fan of the incorrect spikes and tie-plates. Haven't heard a lot of good about Walther's and DCC.

So what would you all suggest?

    Thanks

I'd go with Atlas code 83 flex track and Peco turnouts

I have Shinohara Code 83 flex track with Atlas Super Code 83, DCC "friendly" turnouts. I have two Walthers curved turnouts @ Code 83. In the hidden areas I have Atlas code 100 flex track and turnouts.

I really like the Atlas Super Code 83 turnouts. I have Zero, zippo, nadda, zilch, the goose-egg, problems with them. I came this close >||< to using Peco turnouts. They are just as good. Heck.. maybe better. I also considered the Micro Engineering turnouts.

The only reason I went to the Atlas super switches was I am using Tortoise machines and I was feeling too lazy to "de-sprung" the PECO's to use w/ the slow motion machines.

While I am no expert, I will give you some expert advice ;) , your operation and satisfaction will be 99% how much care you take in planning, installing, aligning, and debugging your track.

The brand is not going to yield the quality.. the quality will come from your attention to installing it.

    Good luck!!!!!!!!!

I use Atlas code 83 flex track and turnouts. They are reasonably priced and I have never had a problem with them. I also use caboose hobbies switch throws and Tortise machines and both work great with the turnouts.
