Have chance to get a 3D print of the UP power car, used on excursions. What trucks available, best match the power car?? Which truck are chosen, will determine what underframe is included. Thanks.
Why would you not buy the complete power car model that Kato sells direct from their parts store? It's part number XA15698 and costs $30. http://www.katousa.com/parts-catalog/information.html (Under N scale products, select the UP excursion train from the drop-down menu and click on the 'List parts' button. The power car is then near the bottom of the page.)
In the great www wasteland I came up with only this that may help. Truck Style: 6 wheel, with disc brakes (11'-0" wheelbase)
Are you able to contact the 3D designer of the carbody? When I design things with trucks that aren't available, I design the trucks to go with it. (I always prefer if MT makes them already or some other manufacturer but you gotta do what you gotta do) He may have something on the back-burner or completed perhaps and not in his shop? And if that's a no-go you can try to reach out to any designer that's done similar trucks who might be willing to modify their existing design for your project. Do a search on Shapeways for "GSC Pass Truck" and you'll find one. I don't know him but he does have a few GSC passenger truck offerings. Walthers has a truck for HO that looks like it's similar to what you want called GSC A62-UDO-11. Cheers -Mike
Still looking around and found a close-up of the 6 wheel trucks. http://www.ronsooline.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=5181283 And you may want to go here to see what is close. http://www.spookshow.net/trucks/trucks.php
800122 ElCap/Excursion 6-Wheel Diner Truck, Silver, w/ Silver coupler - Clip mount, 2 ea N-Scale / Fits: El Capitan, UP Excursion Train $12.00 This may be the truck.
I used the HO equivalent to the Kato six wheel truck on an HO version of the car that I kit bashed for a friend. I also use the Kato N scale version to upgrade some of the Kato business cars and the old Bachmann full dome lounge cars. Here I installed them on a Southern Pacific baggage mail car that I built.
