So I live at Yokota air base outside Tokyo, which is where these terminate to unload jet fuel. There are some videos on YouTube in Japanese which show JR operations at Haijima station just south of the base. There they swap EF65 locomotive (electric) that brings the tanks for a DE10 (diesel) as there aren’t any overhead wires for the tracks on base. Happens a couple of times a week. I’ve got a DE10 and this set and plan on building a set of modules or shelf to recreate that scene when I return to the US and have enough space. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yep - I saw these cars all the time on the tracks when I was at Yokosuka, usually lumbering behind by what looked to me like drastically underpowered locos which, of course, is the EF65. The irony is I've got my eyes on a beautiful DD51 to pull these around my layout, but have a 3-car Tomix EF65 set to use for a city loop subway HAHA Thank you for your service Metra
My biggest gripe with N scale is the lack of detailed cars or recognizable models. Seems like an area being neglected by makers. I'm not a fan of the 3d printed stuff unfortunately. I was able to find a purple porsche 911 in N scale

I have heard of this gizmo. A few guys here where going to buy one. I havent heard any reviews from n scalers on whether it works on model trains...or not.

I'm probably going to take the chance - realizing how little control and how small these items are, I think it's time to get an airbrush of some sort and being in an apt with a back room I can spray in, this little guy will work for spraying solid colors.
I bought one a couple of weeks ago. I caught COVID so I didn’t have time to use it until recently. I have never used an airbrush before, so I’ve still got a lot to learn. But my newbie review is below FWIW: 1) All I’ve done this far is fade paint. For that it is great. I’m very happy with the results. Once I figured out the right paint mix and distance to hold it from the container it was a blast. 2) battery life appears good so far. I spent at least two hours each on a couple of different days fading paint on containers. I wasn’t holding the trigger down the entire time, but lots of short bursts. 3) lightweight and compact. It fits well in my hand. I’m stationed overseas and live in a small house. Not a lot of room for a compressor. 4) easy to clean For more experienced users- 5) I’ve tried a couple of times to draw fine lines as an experiment. Haven’t tried hard because I don’t “need” that yet for what I’m doing. Still haven’t figured that out yet. It doesn’t spatter, but the lines look thick. It’s probably more on my inability to get the right paint mix or distance. But maybe that’s something that needle size factors into. 6) it’s only got two pressure settings. So if you like to fiddle with that on your rig-keep that in mind. Like JT says in the review-it’s got it’s place. I’ve never airbrushed scenery or track, but I can definitely see those possibilities. But I’m very happy with it-I’m not an artist and I don’t have a lot of space. There are probably better airbrushes out there, but this is a pretty good portable solution. This is what I was waiting for, someone here to tell us what they think. And even better, he has never used one before, just like I have not ever used an airbrush before. You do need a Paint Booth even with a portable one right? Or outside in a garage? I'm gonna get one of these in the future.

Cool! I wish I could find a VW Golf MK-7 (2015-2021 in the U.S., 2013-2020 in Europe). I see earlier Gen models, but no MK-7s. I'll handle the Cornflower Blue paint.
