    The SW1500 looks great!

I’m not sure an injection product can match the weight advantage of the brass shell, but a RTR injection SW1500 would sell very well.

On a separate thread I have started on the 'international Railways' forum I have been reporting on the Railway company I work for's annual open day held this year at our Crewe Gresty Bridge depot. Well worth looking at as it refutes totally that this is a dying hobby

    http://www.trainboard.com/highball/...ces-2018-open-day-crewe-gresty-bridge.118742/

For the first time we exhibited on of our FNA-D Flatrol wagons which is the fleet I am responsible for.

Seen here alongside one of our classic Class 37s currently deployed on passenger services on the Cumbrian Coast line

I know it looks like nothing you,ve seen before but it is a designed got highly specialised, Class 7 dangerous goods traffic.

Our publicity however have got very interested in the fact that I have modelled the forerunners of these wagons, the FNA-Cs, in Z so I put a bit of extra effort in to get a couple ready for the show.

Seen here hauled by a Class 25 .

The models are 3D printed on Shapeways with the FNAs running on 3D printed Y25 bogies and finished with Fox Transfers. You can read the data panel and the 'Not to be hump or loose shunted' warning

Since the picture was taken the Class 25 has had the rest of its decals applied. It sits on a Marklin chassis

Back at the open day the crowds assembled for a 'Thrash' where one of my engineering colleagues revved 37 407 up for the delight of the railfans. I show this because the exiting news is that we finally have a Z 3D printed Class 37 to go at . Graham Jones and myself have the test prints to play with and I'll report further.

    Now, a question.

Anybody got any thoughts on a suitable material to represent tinted windows on coaching stock?

I'm finishing a rake of Mk II air conditioned stock to run on Republic Steel when it is British guise and have glazed the windows with clear but even in Z it doesn't look right

The second coach is really annoying in this picture as it is not sat down on the chassis!

    Any thoughts?

Kevin, great work on the UK rolling stock! Maybe the transperant colors from Tamiya works for you to tint windows. I used the transperant orange to tint white LED's a touch warmer.

Now that's what I like, 'lateral thinking' Frank

I'll go to our local Tamiya stockist tomorrow and have a look.

Gonna start a separate thread for the Class 37 like I have on modelrailforum as it is a loco class very close to my heart. I'm also going to aim some of it at the French Z modellers as some 37s ended up over there on hire for the TGV line construction

Spent tonight glazing two GUV general utility vans and satin varnishing the first of the Railblue Mk II coaches

Meanwhile ,as TV is so hopeless during the summer (apart from Lewis Hamilton winning the Grand Prix and Geraint Thomas winning the Tour de France) I finally made a start on putting together the the RS 11 etchings I got ages ago last night. really going to need my best eyes in for this one! Want to get it done for Cuyahoga's tenth anniversary appearance at Zedex in October, obviously in NKP livery

    Hi Kev,

I use Tamiya TS-71 "Smoke" to spray over clear plastic to produce tinted windows.

Regarding tinted windows, I have heard that T-shirt dye, like what is used for tye-dye craft projects can be used. I think it only works on some plastics, but the RC car guys use it on Lexan windows.

Supposed to be connected by phasing gears to a single output shaft. Very interesting design.

    Well....

How about this timing case stood behind Cuyahoga at a show at Barrow Hill? With a couple of spare engines on the flat car.

Has to be one of the strangest backdrops I've had for a layout
