I wonder how many of us surfing the net during work time. Let me see, David, Robert, Randy, Tim. Did I miss anybody.
Guilty as charged, I've been known to switch to the Trainboard to check in half way through a design project. In front of the keyboard, sometimes the temptation is TOO great...
Steve and I have a developing symbiotic relationship. He doesn't work FOR me but WITH me. Steve does great custom painting and decalling and he is working on some very interesting M4D N scale products (sorry!) at the moment. He is, however, taking a very healthy interest in Z with appropriate encouragement from yours truly. I should add that the internet has made the sort of business that we run possible, so please, don't feel guilty about a bit of zurfing on work time. ...and for those of you waiting on news of the Gundersons - they are just waiting for a run of N scale (boo, hiss) GP50 hoods to finish before taking their place on the grid. In a recent email to Randy I pointed out that once we get a couple of suitable Z scale EMD diesels (GP40-2 and SD40) available we can shrink the range of N scale kits down to Z and you can have all the SD38s, SD39s, GP38-2s, GP39s, GP49s and GP50s you could ever wish for. I see Steve in Z scale lately. Maybe we can have him infected with the z scale bug, then he will be working on Z scale stuff.
Randy, this is the prototype 48' container. I didn't have a z scale ruler, so I used the Gunderson 48' markings as a guideline.
John, that container looks awesome! Year before last I made a 45', 48', and a 53' container. Also made a 20' tank-tainer. Those were the inspiration for me to make the 53' containers last year in cast resin. Reason I never made any cast resin 45' or 48' is because in Z scale, they don't stick out as well as the 53' containers. That's why I never cast any. Again, your scratch built 48' container looks awesome! Tim
Thanks Tim, I think your choice of 53' is the right one. We just need more. When I started to put your 53' containers, I wanted more variety in my container stock. I just pick up a BN stack in LHS. I thought those are out of stock. I think I going to do a BNSF and CSX intermodal interchange. I was afraid this month I wasn't going to pick any running stock.
John, I like the 48' container. Doesn't look like it would be too hard to do with some practice. You could use a 20' container as the donor for the extra end length as well. Randy
Randy, that how I made it. I used a 40' with a 20' donor. I look at it, and It's so simple that I can do it.
Well this isn't a Scratchbuild so I'll post it here. A Kitbashed Kibri factory. Still a lot more to add and the whole scene needs finished. Ignore the brown skymg:
Looks good Chris! That factory has a real nice late 1800's, to early 1900's look about it. You can pretty much see that style in any old industrial city.
Searails Big Rigs Flash! This is a News Break! We interrupt your normally scheduled program to bring you this just in! Hobo Tim, of Atlanta, has managed to add brass details from his Ottawa Yard Mules to his newly recieved Big Rig set by SEARAILS. Tim modified the truck slightly by adding two side mirrors, a fifth wheel, and mudflaps. He also drilled and trimmed the front to allow 0603 yellow white micro LEDs to fit in place of the headlights. When energized, well, see for yourself! No driving in the dark for this Big Rig! 0402 red nano LEDs to follow soon for tail/brake lights along with fiber optic yellow running lights. Enjoy Hobo Tim We now take you back to your regularly scheduled program already in progress.
Tim, This is truely amazing work. When you are done I want to send some of these photos to my old HO scale truck modeling buddies! randy
Awesome Tim! Incredible work! Do you make this brass details available for the public? Please post a pictures from the finished Truck.
