Moose (Andy, one of our members who was a Police Officer in New Jersey), is well, so far, and has gone to Iraq. He misses getting to visit here, and sends everyone his "Hello" from the "Sand Box".

He stands somewhere around 6 foot 6 inches, so makes an intimidating T. Sgt to the average Iraqi.

He says they are not allowed to post anything from over there, but since he still has all his fingers, he can occasionally lurk about here on our TrainBoard.

I am attempting to make an email contact so I can send him news and interesting things from "home".

He sent a photo of an Iraqi Box Car, but it is huge. I am trying to learn Adobe PhotoShop so I can re-size it down to fit on here. Right now it is 1.17MB so it may take me awhile to discover how this program works! I hope I learn. :D

Man, I haven't talked to him in over a year. Glad to get an update on him. Last I knew he had a huge layout under construction.

Keep us posted and get that boxcar up asap!

    Thanks, Watash. :D

Always interesting to hear from, and about our service members!

Hope he can send a few more photos. I sure don't know a lot about RR operations, and equipment over there. It's been fun to see the few posted so far.

watash, downsizing in photoshop is an easy 2 click process - on the main toolbar goto IMAGE >> IMAGE SIZE... there you can adjust the size and dpi resolution. For web pictures, adjust the resolution to 75, that should drop the file size too (which will be displayed in the same box).

Also you can adjust the physical size - in case the photo size is like 18 by 24 inches (you'll have to select to display the size in 'inches')

Then, FILE >> SAVE FOR WEB (or something sim ilar) - then you can choose JPEG file and JPEG quality to 5 or 6 (medium).

    hope this helps

    OK Mike, Iraqi Box Car

    Fifth try: 16K @ 6" wide

Moose took this photo while standing on what had been a loading dock, so the trucks aren't shown here. The box car looks pretty well beat up.

If he gets a chance he will send more photos.

    Up date:

The Moose is due to rotate back home sometime this week, so maybe he will have time to drop in and tell us the skinny on Iraq.

Hi all, The Moose is back in the good ole U.S of A!

It was a heck of an experience! But I'm glad to be home with the family again.

That old Iraqi boxcar was actually sitting at the Airport in Baghdad. Looks like they were using for some type of storage. Unfortunately that was the only thing railroad related I saw while over there.

Good to be home and hopefully I can get back to work on the new Moose River RR (in N scale of course)

Thanks all for the kind words! One thing I can't stress enough to folks is to keep supporting the troops! It's ok to disagree with war, but, never stop supporting the troops! The surest way to kill our morale is to not support us.

    Happy railroading!

    Hey Colonel!

Home for good! They say I won't have to deploy again for quite some time. Only 2 yrs to retirement!
