    Ok, I don't see the answer to the question, what's the reason behind this scheme. Well to put it in a couple of sentences, the ATSF painted it in that scheme to Commemorate the merger.....without BN management Knowing that they were doing that. I believe it was painted in Argentine Yard, KC. It was a BN unit on SF rails at the time, if I remember that part right. :eek: Ugly looking thing ain't it? :eek: Glad they came up with GN inspired scheme with NP green to boot!

    BN9647 was heading south out of Denver on
    Saturday April 21st at about7:00pm.It was on the lead.Can't seem to recall reporting marks
    on the coal cars. took some good side shots
    of it.BNSF 31st Street yards is a pretty good place to get shots in the late afternoon.
