I have an Epson printer that can scan slides to photos. I had about 500 slides that I did this with from my six years of travel in the Navy. The Epson has a holder for the slides and a mode to copy them with. The only problem I had was getting the slides center of the holder. This was taken care of easily. The conversion was an easy process. The printer can also take color negatives and turn them into digital pictures.

Looks like the Epson V600 and Canon CanoScan 9000F Mark II are the two current models from known manufacturers that I trust that scan 35mm slides. I think these are priced at about $200 Ea. The Epson V700-series is a significant step up, but at $700 Ea, it's not in my future. I fear sending my slides to be scanned, as they might be lost. Any additional thoughts are welcome. Thanks.

I've got a little slide scanner sitting here next to my computer, says "Imagelab" on it as name under which it was sold. Got it from WalMart for about $50.
