I'm trying to pin down a location, which appears to be in Michigan. Hoping someone can help me get this located, exactly. Scans uploaded of papers, here: http://www.train-orders.com/NYCx/NYCx.html
Beaubien is where the GTW/DTSL line crossed the NYC in Detroit near Beaubien St. It is just NE of the Amtrak station in Detroit, between Brush St and Beaubien St, south of E. Milwaukee St. It was a very shallow crossing, with movable point frogs on the diamonds. Using Mapquest or a similar program can get you to the area. If you follow the tracks NE around the curve, the junction there is Milwaukee Jct. Following the NYC north about a mile from there will take you to North Yard. North Yard Tower was at the north end of North Yard, where the Detroit Terminal crossed. I used to run this way every day after the Conrail split, running between Toledo, OH and Sterling Heights MI.
Thank you, Rick! Was there any sort of structure there when you ran through the area? I wonder if there was ever a tower, or some sort of shanty they used?
