    Hello there,

Last week of my holidays. Four weeks really a short time when you have fun. Been a bit too much rain the last ten days. But today it was sun again. So a few friends and myself put some trains on the tracks. This time it was most US style on the traffic.

A few more pictures and some videos from todays run in my gallery.

Sorry, no trackplan. Might try to do some one day. It's just a oval track with two station areas. Guess something like 60-70 meters long.

The video has been made with my camera. Seems to be in Apple QuickTime format. Since I'm running my systems on Linux I play them with mplayer with out problems. Guess I've to test on a Windows system sometime too.

I am on a mac. I have QT as well, but It would not download for me. It just took me to a web page that said QT on it.

here is the web page I got:
    http://www.sjolund.homelinux.net/albums/LGB-2005/acx.mov

Actually... I have been having trouble with my QT lately. they upgraded it to v.7 and I had all the Pro functions with 6. I lost all my pro functions by upgrading it.

    Geeky,
When looking into the log file you don't seem to donwload the complete file. Others that viewed the movie has download 6698332 bytes of data. What I can see you have tried a number of times. Everytime you got just a part of the movie. Largest download is 552409 bytes.
You might try to save the file locally before watching (right click, but is it possible in Mac?)

Edit: Did you get the movie now? Seems you got the complete movie at 0040 CET.

    Boxcab,
If I just got your address I qhould have tried [IMG]

errr.... I am very impatient. lol I suddenly had audio coming from somewhere on another window and there it was. lol Thanks!

I think what may be the problem is that your file is not whats called a self contained file and it has to wait till the whole thing downloads before it will play.

Also, you can reduce file size by having your video file be only 15 fps as opposed to the standard 30.

What are you creating your files in?

Just filming with my camera, Konica-Minolta Dimage Z5. I'll try with 15fps next time. Guess it's in 30fps since I played with the camera on an H0 layout. That movie is 100MB and 1 min 40 secs. The real bad thing, autofocus isn't any fun when filming modell trains :(

Leif, I know its been a bit since the last post here, but you might want to try a freeware program called virtualdub, it will compress most movie files pretty handily. Like most freeware, the interface is a bit sparse and not the most user friendly, but it does an excellent job.

Bill, I actually download it fews days ago. Tryed it but you know.... Sure will give it ago again. Might not be tonight, I'm preparing myself and my Corvette for some racing this weekend. Anyhow, I'll post a notice here if I success with the conversions.

Update: Well, I did a try. Movies converted from QuickTime to MPEG format. Size now about 1/3 of original. Converted files are in this album

(Thanks Bill for reminding me to do this)

    Geeky,

Havn't done any track plan. I played a bit with the camera and have made a video of a train running the complete layout. The video is available in WMV, RealPlayer and MPEG formats. There is also a low resolution version.
