We still see the triple digit Santa Fe's and the early BNSF Pumpkins here on the NS.

Those older four digit units have up-to-date equipment.

The FRA banned some of the equipment on those triple digit units.

A very interesting read--I didn't know ATSF cheapened-out on their loco purchases...
Doofus, just what kind of banned equipment? I could see that on a GP30, but on a modern Dash-9 or GP60M?

I am wondering what the FRA banned on the locomotives? I am talking about the Dash9's in Santa Fe and BNSF H1 paint. I have been on many Conrail SD60m's and they should have been scrapped after they were made to save injuries.

Never seen a COLT before. They seem to be up to standards now though. I still see them regularly here in IL. I like seeing the old Silver and Red and the H1's I know it won't last though.

Last I heard, the Colt was only used for the radio. The Fred controller is seperate. That was done I thought before the Santa Fe order was completed.
