Lets here those crazy rumors that may be floating around... Today I heard that BNSF is talking with a German firm to build a tripple track tunnel from Issaquah to Ellensberg WA. CN is interested in going in with BNSF on the super tunnel. Also CP an UP merged LAST year, expect to see BNSF merge with CN by the end of the year and then either CSX or NS next year. Kevin
Didn't you hear? BNSF is building a branch line to Tahiti. They've bought up the world's supply of long pilings, and are going after the coconut import trade. Ha ha. Boxcab E50
Dateline: Houston TX BNSF Headquarters: ES44DC's & SD70ACe's will change colors in July. Apparently the black and orange is not holding up as well as once thought said Joe Morgan of Du-Pont Industrial. "We (Du-Pont) thought the black would help disguise the soot and dirt much better than the green we used in previous BNSF paint schemes." Similar paint techniques have been used successfully in both the trucking and aviation industry. Not so for BNSF. "While they look sharp at first, they look worse as time goes on." On Friday April 28, BNSF unvieled the heritage IV paint scheme. "It looks much like the old CB&Q, overall Chinese Red with a gray upper surface but with a yellow and black saftey stripping." Said Joe. The new logo is there too, albiet in red not orange. Officials report that Rocky the goat will be making his apperance on freight cars this summer too. "Rocky was a big part of the old Great Northern" said Joe, "What is old is new again". Chicago Railwire 2006 mg: I wish!!! Just some Sci-Fi for you.
Actuallt the rumor I heard was BNSF was looking into buying KCS as it had bought TFM last year. Doing this would give BNSF access to the new ports being built by a Japan company in Mexico. Wal-Mart is very interested, no joke!
