Well actually I'm not looking for food. I'm looking for a hand out though. Or perhaps a hand me down.

I don't know what happened, but after staring at the layout for months I got a bug up my butt and started making the much needed viaduct. For brickwork I tore apart a Cornerstone kit of the Hardwood furniture company with cutters to make the facade. Only problem is it doesn't have enough material for my entire viaduct.

If anyone has a Hardwood Furniture kit in any condition, prefer a really beat up one, or even parts of it. I only need maybe two walls. I would gladly accept it into my scrap bin.

    Thanks guys.

Glad to hear construction is started. Go, man, go.

Isn't it time for another layout construction party???

    Campp,
If I don't find another wall I dunno what I'm gonna do. I hate to buy a 20 dollar kit for one wall.

Part of me is saying do it bring work on one side and concrete on the other so you get two bridges out of one depending on what side you look at.

Even the flat extra trim pieces that come with the kit would help.

    hows your layout coming long?

Is this something where you could buy some sheet styrene brick, and use it that way? Or is the kit pattern so unique, that would not match?

I think I MIGHT have said kit!
Not sure where it's at right now.
Would have several boxes to search though.
Especially after having to pack/move stuff several times
during the basement project! I'd start looking next
weekend, but the GTE - Great Train Expo is here, and I'm exhibiting this time!
I'll be at the Rio Grande Modeling and Historical Society tables. With
my 3 Rail Rio Grande heritage unit on display.

Using two different materials on two sides, while not prototypical, would be fine in my world. Not the biggest crime of the century. Hopefully you can find some spares or a suitable match, as Ken suggested.

My layout is advancing, ready to paint track, thanks for asking. See my blog for the nitty gritty.

thanks for all thr replies guys.

    Boxies,
The masonry work on the structure is somewhat unique and wouldn't go well with brickwork. I may just build a facade on one side for now and then fix the other side later. right now the back side isn't visible to most viewers so it wouldn't be a crime to leave it alone.

I was cutting masonite for the substructure last night and today. I rather like working in masonite. Part of me understands now why O scalers use it so much. It's kind of strange though, to be using a circular saw to cut parts for an N scale structure.

Keith, let me know if you have that kit. I was sort of looking for a used one so as to avoid buying a new one, but perhaps we can trade kits as I have a cornerstone turntable kit I am not going to use.

As soon as I can get my hands on a digital camera I will post some progress pics.

    Ba-dump-BUMP!

Well I am moving along on this project, so I thought i'd give this thread a little nudge up to the top of the stack.

I am building my substructure out of masonite and 1x2. I sort of like working big like this. I think the O scalers have it easy when it comes to scratch building, they do alot of building with Masonite.

My skills are sloppy at best, so a tiny descrepancy of say 1/64th an inch after cutting things with a table saw, may look odd in N scale, But in O scale it's barely noticeable. Thankfully I have lots of free masonite so I just cut till I get it right.

Masonite works great on my laser. I make panels out of it...
