Well, this site has some photos of wood grain elevators from October 2008 from Alberta Canada. So I would think it is plausable. Funny, I was wondering aobut this sort of thing about Minnesota The only ones I have seen myself are no longer rail served and in operation (Royalton Minnesota comes to mind near Saint Cloud Minnesota). BNSF Grain Elevator Directory I found this BNSF Grain Elevator Directory. Pretty cool site. It looks like they have several hundred of them listed, most with pictures.
I forgot that BNSF had that site. I have used this before looking for large grain elevators. This one in Washington looks like a woody to me....I may be wrong http://www.bnsf.com/markets/agricultural/elevator/bin3/ele1543.html
Still standing? Yes. In service, that is another question. I believe a very few, scattered around. Most are newer or updated. Check out this site: http://www.country-grain-elevator-historical-society.org/about.html Boxcab E50
