As the title says, I'm working on a non-current sensing train detection system that doesn't requite ANY modifications to the layout or rolling stock. Obviously, the system needs to be added to a layout, but is self contained, and adds simple signaling on a per-block basis.

As a tickler, it's Arduino based, and requires only the IR source and detector besides the Arduino UNO or PRO Mini.

Prototypes are more-or-less functioning, and I'm making single sided shields to connect the outside world to the Arduino parts.

I should have something to show/share in a month or so.......

    You have my interest...

but you might want to post this (or ask a moderator to move it) to the "DCC & Electronics" forum... you'll get a much wider audience than in "New Member Introductions" ...

    Welcome aboard, BTW!

Hi Crusader, Welcome aboard. I had not heard of Arduino, though it looks like an interesting concept for control. I'm eager to follow your progress.

    Welcome to TrainBoard!

Our DCC & Electronics Forum is quite active with folks who would be interested in what you are doing. Drop on over there and say hello to them. :)

I intend to post on that forum when I'm further along.

The detection part works well, but the comm to the block control is not complete. Both parts are driven by state machines and I was trying different ways to keep it all in sync, but I'll have to get back to basics.

Each detector module is Arduino based, and feeds Arduino based counter modules for the blocks adjacent.

    That's the basic design....

I've been watching dcc++ stuff, and I recognize your name.
