Hi all The first update of 2005 is on line. A little rough right now but my web wizard is onto it... I thought it would be a good time to tour the whole layout as well as look ahead at a great deal of the work that is still to be done. I expect four years will be about all I need. After that of course there’s radio control, and battery power, and a new ceiling and carpet on the floor. It just goes on and on….. So while your checking out my latest ‘to-do’ list, I better get started on that snow scene - if it’s going to be finished by April. Enjoy Dave
Dave- How much space do you have for the Interior Division? And, by chance do you have another view of the bridge shown in Photo 7? Boxcab E50
Hi all This is a new house. We built it about 3 years ago and had the basement designed for the layout. Access, power and lights, etc. There are just a little less than 1400 sq ft down here and I it in about 320 feet of main line. This is enough for me. I model a Canadian prairie shortline and so there is a lot of scenery and little actual track. First photo...... An over all view. This is actually two 2 by 4's screwed together and set on edge across the gap. They are "dressed up" with sheet styrene plates, the company slogan and weathering. The track has a guard rail but there is no hand rail for 'walkers'. They'd just be asking to be broken anyway. Second photo..... This will give you a sense of scale. The GP9's are from USA Trains. Hope this helps. Dave
I'll bet that when you duck under that bridge, a miss produces a nasty headache! Two 2 by 4's are certainly solid. The end result looks excellent! Boxcab E50
It was designed to provide an "ouch" as well as a very secure ride. The 1st bridge was a bit of a whimpy affair and a visiter came up early knocking about 5 cars to the floor. Never again
