Ok. I may be able to talk the real Estate Manager into more space so I have scaled up my previous layout. I know the stretch to the upper left is a reach but that's why there are no switches there. This gives me a way to run a loop to entertain the 4 year old nephew or the 76 year old father. :)

This is a take on the greater Toronto area, names to change as required. :) Era is mid to late 70s (when we still made stuff!)

Interchange from CN happens lower left or from the small shipyard at the same location. Full loads and empties delivered as required. White Goods manufactured top left require paint from the top right passing through the yard. Manufacturing scrap goes to the yard from there it goes to the shipyard for processing in a country that handles ugly materials. Finished product goes to the intermodal yard, interchange or shipyard.

Beverages require fruit from the orchard usually by way of the cold storage. Then back to cold storage for eventual distribution to intermodal, interchange or the small freight office at top centre right.

Thanks. Scenery will be pretty sparse as I am in it for the Switchin'. Just enough to make it look meaningfull.

Overall I really like the plan. Great yard, continuous running and lots of switching for a local. Here are a couple of suggestions if and only if you wanted to tweak it:

Above the yard I see to possible changes:
Change the two spurs to stub end parrallel to the "main" as shown in the two solid spurs
    or
One long spur to the industries to the upper right of the yard and removing the other access to that area. This allows for a "street running scene" with buildings on either side if you wanted to do something like that. I realize scenery is not a priority so this is just an idea.
You may want to alter the spur on the far left to parallel the main so you can put a hatch in that corner.
Love the plan as it is.

Neat ideas. I'll play around with them.

    Thanks!
