I have one of those on my truck--bought it at Colorado RR Museum.... :)
The DRGW Fan license plates give it away as well, in case the sticker didn't... :)

That's a mouth full! And my license plate says S6. You know your a rail fan when you get a morgage note from your bank to buy a real locomotive. You know your a rail fan when you are asked if you attend church and you reply why yes, I attend the "Church of the Holly Rail"" every Sunday.

This is a great list. I do have a cat named Chessie, who I named in honor of the
C & O, though I'm not a fan of the aforenamed railroad. She is a female gray and white tabby.

I have a few more to add to your list. Here they are:

If you ever get married, you hope your future mate is a railfan.
You would like to start a railfan dating service and advertise in all the railroad magazines.
If you are unemployed and looking for a job, you choose your job search locations based on how close to the local railroad they are.
When a company offers you a position, you make your decision based on the proximity to the railroad or lack thereof.
On vacation, you choose places to stay that have a view of the tracks.
When you get your daily exercise, you try to do it where you can see trains.
You sleep on railroad themed sheets, have a lot of railroad themed clothes, and decorate your house with railroad themed art.

Uh, it's probably better to make sure by raising the question early in the relationship. The question is whether you should wait until the second date before asking if he prefers CSX or BNSF. :worried:

I'd say even the second date is a little too soon. I think I'd wait until I'm sure that the relationship has a future. But, that's just me.

I guess that means that wearing the vest with all the railroad patches and pins is best left 'til later, huh?

Maybe. In some ways, I'd rather let my date know right off that I'm a railfan, but don't talk incessantly about trains and be careful about wearing much in the way of clothes that identify you as a railfan.

Caution: I pet trains and chase cats.:cat:

When you roll down your window while driving just to hear the prime mover the sounds of a passing train even when it is raining outside.

My situation was simple. She liked Burlington Northern, I liked Santa Fe. We decided to merge in 1998 and Galesburg RR days was our honeymoon!

How about when you mistake the motor of your car for the sound of a diesel and you look outside to see the train only to realize that there is no train? When we got our Dodge Neon, I did that. Something about the motor sounded awfully like a diesel, especially when I was driving next to the tracks.

Oh yes. And in the process, your vehicle interior gets wet. But it doesn't bother you!
