That's cool, thanks. So I've been looking for a CSX Switcher and can't seem to find a NEW one in N Scale? Also, I would like to see the other colors, I think you own some, like these in N scale locomotive at a hobby shop in person, or a great picture. I also was thinking about maybe, since I like them so much, collecting different CSX schemes, maybe, if I can find them in N Scale. I prefer new and current productions. Guess I just have to wait and see. Now about that switcher? And one that I like And REAL pictures of a cool CSX switcher that looks like a switcher, whatever that means? This looks cool, why the 0's? This real or Memorex, actually PhotoShop? Alright, me thinks I am hijacking thread, me will stop now! Maybe create a new CSX one Not real trains but model railroad CSX only?
It's just a sample illustration to show where the engine number digits are applied. With the many variations in CSX paint, which colors were you seeking a switcher in? I don't have a whole lot of CSX switcher pictures. This one didn't scan well; it's one of the yellow nose variants. [11/25/1994, Montgomery, AL]
I don't know if I can point to a favorite paint scheme, but Southern Railway's ranks amongst my top favorites. [03/18/1986, Prattville, AL] How many roads would take the time to add safety striping to the end of the walkway step along the hood?
I also like the Southern tuxedo scheme and since both my kids and ALL of our money went to Purdue, I have a great fondness for the Monon black and gold. Of course it was the black and orange put together in such a tasteful fashion that attracted me to model the BNSF. Ralph
Canadian Pacifc bright red with 'Pac Man' logo. Bangor and Aroostook Red / Grey. My own: 'Grandure Grey and Green'.
Great Northern "Big Sky Blue" was beautiful, especially on a passenger train. BUT, only if it was newly painted-it didn't weather very well, lol!
Not quite as beautiful as the classic Builder colors. But you are so very correct. The BSB paint, at least what they used, collapsed quickly. A flat, lightened, powdery appearance. It looked very poorly as time passed.
Those colors are very close to the late 60's-early to mid 70's Enchantment Blue and Federal Signal yellow of C&O/B&O power. I first thought the Chessie System tri-colors were a bit garish at first but, hey, better than the "dip jobs" so many roads had in those days. N&W still had some blue diesels as late as 1977-79 and compared to the basic black schemes, they were easier on the eyes!
