Can't make a choice, as I've never been there. Just followed from afar. Guess if I could make it happen, my interests would go back to earlier years. Such as the Rutland. Or CVR at steam to diesel transition.

The New York & Ogdensburg must be a current shortline?

    gmrcguy,

I know tragically little about any of these railroads. Do you have any pics or link to pics of any of them?

I found some images on the web for most of them. I think the Green Mountain locos have a pretty sweet paintjob. I also found Clarendon & Pittsford and New York & Ogdensburg.

    I haven't yet voted.

    photos

If you're still looking for pictures you can google search vermont railway and see their website photos. You an also look on Nerail because I know for a fact that nerail will have vrs train pictures. Just go to railroads and Look For the railway choices above. Also the gmrc logo is pretty sweet

I just chose one based on a paint job. I know very little about these railroads besides.

A visit to NERAIL can be quite an adventure. My last time, I found where someone had uploaded many hundreds of views, for the WW&F RY museum. :eek:mg: That in itself was great.

Be prepared to spend a few hours browsing.

In my case, none of the above. My all-time favorite Vermont operation is the Springfield Terminal Railway in Springfield, VT. Among model railroad hobbyists, through the broad exposure given it in the hobby press, this 5.6 mile shortline was at one time arguably one of the world's best know vestpocket operations...but that was way back in the 1950's.

Today virtually all traces of the STRy have vanished but the little town of Springfield has been recently declared the official residence of Homer J. Simpson!

    ex vrs railways

The vermont had tons of railways many years ago. This include the Wood Stock RR, Rutland, Central Vermont or earlier named vermont central, St. Johnsberry RR, and i think plenty more

    Reviving an old thread.

    Green mountain too.

I'm about 7 miles from Bellows Falls...

Rode behind #405 10 years before moving up to VT, but I think the old #405 was sold to the Naugatuck RR in CT a bunch of years back.

Nice to see trains on a daily basis.

    gmrc 405

405 still there on the flyer. This year they cancelled the flyer so who knows what will happen to 405. I was riding behind last year. Here's a pic of 405 leading the rutland limited back in 08. I don't think the VRS would ever sell 405 though.
