When I went to the 2004 Seattle NMRA Convention, I had the opportunity to tour a couple old NP stations. This one had been recently rebuilt, and had been painted in near original Brown paint with Green, White, and Red trim.

I really liked this station so I built it in Z Scale and painted it in the Sand and Brown scheme that it last wore in the NP era, to use on my Z Bend Module

    Robert-

You are a magician! Those views of your model look fantastic! But it's not N scale. WAH!!!

That depot you saw, is almost home for me. Issaquah. Know it VERY well. I grew up just a few miles east. Lived in that vicinity for 47 years. Along the old Tacoma Division Twelfth Sub.

To the left of your color view, about two blocks along the tracks, was the place I attended Junior High. I saw Casey Jones excursions, watched many an NP local work past our school, enroute to Snoqualmie and the huge Weyerhaeuser mill.

BTW- When I was that age, the population was less than 600. Now it's somewhere closer to 80 thousand. Slight change. From an old coal mining community, nobody could pronounce, or find on a map, to a messy Seattle suburb. [IMG] That depot is about all that remains of old town, from 40 years ago.

Awesome work Robert!! Did you use the laser to cut the parts?

Yes, I drew it on the computer in Corel Draw, then cut it on the Laser.

The long walls, roof, and floor are 1/32" basswood, the ends and inside walls are 1/32" Finish Plywoods, and all the doors, windows, corbels, and trim are 1/64" plywood. The chimney's are cut from #110 bond strathmore cardstock, window glass is .007" butyrate, and the roofing is Paper Creek laser cut shingles.

From now on, I'll make my own shingles out of brown grocery bag paper, and laser cut it myself. I bought the Paper Creek stuff to try, and I like it, but there is $10 worth of Paper Creek shingles on that roof!

Several people on the Yahoo z_scale group expressed intrest in this station, so I might just make it a craftsman kit. [IMG]

At least I can add it to my pile of stuff for trade.

I need to get my butt in gear and start making you those crossovers!!

BTW - Sorry for the delay my dayjob has got me going all over the country. It's our year end, so every sales person is trying to get things installed and on the books before they miss their bonuses. [IMG]

I just got home Saturday from Chicago and Minneapolis, and have to fly out Monday morning to Houston. ARG! I just want to build turnouts!!

I'm in the same boat as you Eric, I got home from Boston at 1:00 Friday morning, and am flying out again Tuesday morning.

I used to be able to take paints, tweezers, exacto knives, etc. on the flights with me, but nowdays I just take my notebook and settle for surfing instead of modeling at the hotels. [IMG]
