A cushion Underframe on a double-sheathed wood boxcar...interesting. R. Witt notes: "This is a Duryea cushioned underframe. The B&O RR had probably over 50,000 cars equipped with these underframes from boxcar to coal hoppers. They began using them in the late 1920s and were applied to new cars until the early 1950s.
