seen from the "house" lead. Tracks here from Left to right: inbound new fuel trk lead, the CR unit is on the south track, 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 10. The GE's on the far right are on the "Escape" from the arrival yard. This facility is set up where inbound units enter the shop area from the west although departing moves can be made out either end.

Closer look at one of the ready tracks. Notice a few things: 1) how fine the gravel is, your not walking on "normal" size ballast in here the average size rock is 1" or LESS. 2) the lack of about all the trash. 3) how the gravel is dang near even with the top of the ties.

looking east from ready track 10, refered to as 10 East you can see the blue flag and derail are down for the move off the track. A bit about the track arangement you see here. The Ex BN SD40-2 is on "the ready track" The track your looking ahead is 10 then moving to the left it's 6,5 and 4. While 4-10 are ready tracks since they are in the enging shop controlled area they aren't called ready tracks here. At this yard the term "ready track" is where power that needs NO servicing is put as it's normally going to be on a outbound train pretty quick. Tracks 4-10 are where units that were serviced and built into outbound consists sit until the crew gets on duty.

A view of the indoor fuel rack and wheel shop. Notice the lack of clutter. Often on model layouts you'll see shops with "junk" engine parts stewn about and that's something you just don't see. on the otherside of the wheel shop there is a parts rack where things like AC's, cooling fans, steps ect ect are kept.
