just got new Central Valley Pratt truss bridge....gonna start now because the weather is keeping me inside!
The start of the evening, the work bench looked like this... This is the result of the piles of gears and motors... For use in this.... A lot of work to go but it will be Buffalo Creek and Gauley Railbus A
Hey Tom, I have two CV truss bridges on order (from Santa!!) they look fine I built the HO version years ago & it was a treat Can't wait to get hold of the N scale kits - let me know how you progress with it Steve
I've been working on a set of E5's for Charlie Vlk. He says he's been a good boy this year so I'm trying to finish them by Christmas. I managed to get all the decals on after this photo was taken. Just need to add the window glass and hand it over to Santa for delivery.
It's Alclad Chrome and you must spray it over a gloss black finish in several light coats, then sealed with Model Master Sealer for Metalizer.
Tony, Are you going to be doing a write up for this for one of the magazines? I have really been wanting to do something like this. Where did you get the spoked wheels from? Eric
Not sure about a write up because the gearbox for this thing is a one off. I wouldn't want to try to recreate it. I may end up rebuilding it as I mocked it up with a body so I could test it tonight and as is, it needs a different motor or more gear reduction, it's just too fast and has no slow speed performance..
Tony, that is sweet!!!!!! Would you think about photo etched side frames to hold the gears? Then I can buy a couple sets off you Very nice & look forward to seeing your progress with this little project.
My latest project is some interiors for a couple of my buildings. This is an interior for a dance hall.. I was going to add some tables and chairs in the dance hall, but I doubt they would be seen so I'm rethinking that idea. Any way here is one of the chairs
Just got my first N scale diesel in the mail at the office this morning. It is a Bacman Spectrum SD45. I'll be painting it into Milwaukee Road. This will be my first time painting N scale. Now to avoid the pitfalls of going crazy on detailing it. rolleyes:
I just scored an Atlas GP7! Anyone ever kitbash in N Scale? I'm thinking of doing a nose chop and turning this bad boy into a Milwaukee Road GP20!
Just for your info, all parts on GP7, GP9's and GP-20's are interchangeable. That goes for all manufacturers. You can put a LL GP 20 shell on an Atlas GP-7 for instance.
Cool! Thanks for the info, Bob. The problem with is the Milwaukee had GP20s that it rebuilt in it's Milwaukee shops. They did not match the stock EMD GP20s. So will most likely have to kit bash it to get it close.
Could I Add...? That GP20 low nose will probably hang up on the GP7 mechanism. Just a mis-speak, I know. PSG1790 is correct about all the parts. That GP20 mechanism will allow a lowered nose on the GP7 shell to fit. I wanted to ask, though, what about the Athearn GP60. Will it interchange with those other engines or is it too long? Thanks.
