Going way back to 1947, a brand new Alco PA on loan from the American Locomotive Company, pulls a Santa Fe end door baggage/express car, three PRR coaches converted to display cars and three Pullman cars for an escort of the United States Marines. On board the display cars are the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and other historic documents.
I was fortunate to tour the Freedom Train with my parents when it was at Grand Central Terminal. It was a wonderful experience.
If I see an interesting scene I sketch it and later on I may try to model it. This is one of my sketches
The manpower distribution looks about right....one hammer operator, one shovel leaner, one supervisor, one manager, and one sidewalk superintendent. Candy, your artistry is marvelous. BTW, I haven't seen a Clyde Beatty poster in at least 50 years. Thanks for the nostalgia.
Here are two shots of Ewing Oil and Refining Company as seen on the Southern New Mexico N Scalers layout in Las Cruces, New Mexico.... Hope you enjoy and thanks for looking.
Caught these beasties heading toward the Provo, Utah yard.... The TCC's #14 & #13, Rio Grande's GP9 #5904, and ATHX 1996....
Obviously you have never seen the Cleveland Water Department at work you are missing another supervisor and three more shovel leaners with who knows how many are in the truck. Rick J
Sweet looking coal drag. Is it just me, or have we been seeing some really stepped up in quality modeling efforts this past year or so?
Great nighttime refinery scene. Candy, you have it about right with that "work" scene. I guess the old question applies there, "working hard or hardly working?" Grampy, your steam engine looks massive and imposing the way you shot it. Nice!
