Is there an official web site for Pacific Rail Shops? Or a place where I can view a comprehensive products listing? Boxcab E50
At this time BoxcabE50, Pacific Rail Shops doesn't have a site to view their items. If you want, I have some of their kits; I could shoot some pictures of them and forward them to you. They have a news letter, which I will dig out and forward to you, or at least an address to get on the mailing list if you like. Just let me know, and I'll get on it. Greg Elems
Greg- The only page I could find, at least to date, is this one: http://www.trainweb.org/mhrr/ho-s-o/mhrr-pacrail.htm But there are only live links to pages listing two styles of car bodies. And I have a question- At the right hand side, where it says "QTY"... Does a "0" mean they are sold out? Or? Also, I know these come LESS T/C. And understand about using Kadees. But where to turn for trucks? I believe you gave me a URL at one time. But cannot find it right now. Thanks- Boxcab E50 [ 27. July 2003, 04:29: Message edited by: BoxcabE50 ]
The quantity listed has to do with the prototype. As for availability, they run kits and road names once then sell them. If repeated the numbers will be different. What are available changes and some kits are limited runs. As for trucks, they have kits with plastic wheels from PRS. If you want metal wheels, you can buy NWSL wheels or buy trucks from AM or SHS. I don't know the reason for the not offering trucks with all the kits. They also sell detail sprues separately for kit bashing and such. I like the cars, as they make nice models and aren't too fragile. Greg Elems
Greg- Have you found a need to buy the additional details? Or have you been satisfied with them out-of-the-box? I'm not a big super-detailer. Nor into much weathering. But I do want my equipment to look correct for the time frame in mind. Boxcab E50 [ 27. July 2003, 16:52: Message edited by: BoxcabE50 ]
Actually, I've found the details for each kit to be just fine. The details seem to be of proper size and not too fragile. PRS seems to go to extra effort to make sure each kit has a good detail sprue with it. The extra parts I've received were seconds that weren't included in a kit. I have plans on using them on some other models in need of ladders and brake wheels and such. I am also toying with an idea for a 50' hi-cube and will need those types of parts. AM also sells detail sprues for their cars that have separate parts. At least their early kits listed them as available. Greg Elems [ 27. July 2003, 17:38: Message edited by: Greg Elems ]
