Okay, I have a question. Am I the only one who ever gets an idea in his or her head about building something specific, and have that turn into an obsession? This Freedom Train project has turned into just that for me.

    Bill-

Just concerning building my layout in a certain setting. Specific era. Otherwise, not like your AFT.

But there were only a limited number of cars in the AFT. So your project has an ending! You won't be doing it forever....

That happens to me. However, my problem is I quickly lose interest (for no reason) and become bored. Then I usually abandon the project. [IMG]

    Bill:

I would believe that all of us have a compulsion and not an obsession. I am comfortable with the former, and know that my behavior falls into that definition, even though I will stay awake all night long, not eat or go to the bathroom, forget to feed my dog, not say a word to my wife and spend every cent I have on my trains. I will keep on working despite debilitating sports injuries done to myself with a No. 11 Exacto blade.

    com·pul·sion (km-plshn)
    n.

An uncontrollable impulse to perform an act, often repetitively, as an unconscious mechanism to avoid unacceptable ideas and desires which, by themselves, arouse anxiety.

    ob·ses·sion (b-sshn, b-)
    n.

Compulsive preoccupation with an idea or an unwanted feeling or emotion, often accompanied by symptoms of anxiety.
A compulsive, often unreasonable idea or emotion.

Thanks for the thoughts. It's nice to know I'm not alone. The AFT is now 8 cars long, with another 6 coming in the mail to be converted. After doing the first two display cars, the other 8 are going to be a breeze.
