Does anyone know where 6015's feedwater heater went? It seems to have lost the best part of it's personality. ------------------ Dave Winter Owner/Operator Winter Valley Regional Railway
I have always liked the look of Canadian locomotives, they are sort of a cross between British and American I think my favourites were the big 2-10-4's (I think). (CPR). Were they 'Selkirks'? and are there any preserved? ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.alancurtismodels.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
Dave, the feedwater heater went to a souvenir hunter for what ever reason. Thats why the fence was put up but even it has been damaged. Hard to keep these historic monuments safe and complete. Alan, many locos have been preserved but so far haven't seen the CPR Selkirk any where. They got there name as they were used as helpers to get trains through Rogers Pass before the Connaught tunnel was built. Rogers Pass cuts through the Selkirk Mountains and thus the name. The trans Canada highway uses the old CPR roadbed and there are numerous snow sheds on the highway. Even in mid summer it feels like winter passing through. ------------------ Robin Maberly and Tayside
I have heard a lot about this area, from a friend who has a sister living in Calgary. He has visited many times, and taken hundreds of photographs, and miles of video He also once got to drive a coal train (all SD40-2's) up Rogers!! It is truly a beautiful area, and one my wife and I plan to visit. Pity about the Selkirks ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.alancurtismodels.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
Welcome back to Trainboard JimmyB. Here's hoping all your PC problems have been resolved. Yes you and I and maybe Vincent could take a trip through the Rockies and on to Vancouver. As others have said, this is a must area to visit. ------------------ Robin Maberly and Tayside
