Congratulations Rob! I love that while this accolade is for a single locomotive, for all of us who know you in our Z scale world, it recognizes a lifetime of exceptional contributions. The icing on the cake!
Outstanding details Robert! Impressive piece I wish I would have thought out side the box when I did the brass shell! but I built it to fit the Shorty. Always enjoy the work you do!
No Offense to me! I'm not even a professional designer and had much trouble with finding good information. I took me a long time to get what I had and printing at Shapeways didn't help with all their specification on wire size and wall size. took a lot of time doing re-draws trying to design something you have never been around and try to figure what things are and what they did! But Robert has always impressed me with his knowledge on modeling things. As some of the others on here! I'm not getting any younger! So Robert build is very impressive! Even now with all this new information I can see many changes needed! I had done three other Boxcab units and each has been different.
There are a few of us who have known Rob clear back to 2004 where I met him at NTS in Seattle. I was surprised when he walked up and introduced himself and after a few minutes as I recall he gave me one of his early kits......, at least I think that is how it went. My first impression of Rob told me he was not only an outgoing friendly guy, but he had a lot of talent. Little did I realize just how loaded down with talent this guy was. He never acted haughty as though he were someone, he was polite and he had an infectious laugh, and it didn't take very long to say to myself, "I like this guy" Rob has always been a friend to anyone and everyone , especially to those who have a love for Z scale. I've watched him draw and cut out several kits and he is always willing to share his knowledge with fellow modelers. In conclusion I will say, if you know Rob, you are in great company. Listen, watch, and learn from those who are examples of excellence .
