Talking about going down a rabbit hole, I was looking for a video that showed the reverse lights working on a Amtrak P42, and came across this. So this is a hybrid system for real trains? It was interesting to watch. The things you can find by mistake on YouTube And not by mistake. Years ago fixed a Packing Nut for my nieces washing machine to stop it leaking. I had never heard of a Packing Nut before. Now my brother in law brings it up every now and then, cause it was so strange and we had never heard of a packing Nut? Hope I am saying that correctly Anyway this time it was a hybrid Amtrak locomotive that I was not looking for.
Not really. Just a diesel electric like most other locomotives running these day outside of the North East Corridor. However it meets the clean running Tier 4 requirements.
Yeah, I don't know how I feel about the look of it really Looks more like a Bus to me, then a locomotive
Styling is simply blah. Yes, there are required crash safety standards built underneath. But at least they could wrap it in something with a little more class than this utilitarian appearance. I am certain it looks this way as the outcome is simply their cheapest way to build it.
Sure wished I knew how to do video/photo enhancement. I think you could take an old F7 and morph it to this pretty well.
