CSX, I am sure you have checked all of the normal things? Drive lines not connected, fly wheels sprnning on the dhaft and light that? The only other thing I can think of is the trucks themselves. Make sure all the gears are in the trucks from top to bottom and compair your truck gearing to the example shown on the parts blowup thats hould be with the loco. Everytime I have emailed Athearn with a problem with a loco, they assure me that the product was tested before it left the factory...yea right. Shannon WP LIVES (and so does the ATSF)
Try rolling the wheels round with your thumb. If they go round, then the problem is with the gears. Next, take the lid(bodyshell) off and check the clip over the wormgear. Is it clipped onto the truck snugly? Do this with each truck. Next, check the universal joints. Rotate the motor by hand and check how many bits turn as they should. Failing that, I dunno......... Keep us posted. Jon
Take the shell off and run it to see what is working. It sounds like the motor shafts are turning inside the flywheels. It could be an older unit and the plastic has dried out. Hope this helps.
