Ok Guys!!!! It's done I would like to change the number boards anyone got any ideas???? the rear should be easy it's the front
What? All that work and you didn't change the small cab numbers?!? (just kidding) So, was it nerve-wracking cutting on a perfectly good factory painted shell? Almost like the smell of napalm in the morning...smells like victory! ~Tim
Several years ago I made an SD45T-2 by stretching a Kato SD40 frame. Taking a hacksaw to that mechanism was hard to do!! This is a great kitbash!! I don't watch the new diesels enough to have noticed the difference, but I do like to do the very same thing and get a bunch of variations on the engines I have.
Isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip should do. For the front: Remove the front numberboards and remove the numbers, (maybe sticking them to tape so they don't move around), dab on some black water-based paint for decal adhesion, painstakingly renumber and apply Microscale Micro-satin or flat to seal. ~Tim
Mike - most excellent !! Looks great. I've removed the Kato numberboards by pushing from the back w/ a small drill bit.
